Browsing, searching, saving cafés, and marking one as visited all work anonymously — no account required, and that data stays on your device (browser local storage) unless you choose to log in.
If you log in — to sync favorites across devices or rate a café — we collect your first name and email, used only to send a one-time sign-in code and attach your ratings to your account. We never see or store a password.
If you submit a new café, suggest an update, or claim a café as an owner, we collect what you enter: café details, machine info, an optional photo, an optional comment, and — for owner claims — your name and email so we can follow up if needed. We also briefly retain a hashed (not plain) version of your IP address, solely to prevent spam submissions.
We collect small amounts of anonymous usage data — a random id generated in your browser (never tied to your name or email), a coarse device type, and the referring site — to understand how the map gets used. If you use distance filtering, your location is used locally in your browser and never sent to or stored on our servers.
We don't sell your data, run ad trackers, or share it with anyone beyond what's needed to operate MiMaquina. You can ask us to delete your account or submission data at any time via the Contact page.
MiMaquina is a directory of specialty coffee shops in Los Angeles, built by an independent maker and provided as-is, without warranty.
Café and machine information is submitted by the community. We review new listings before they go live, and repeat confirmations from other visitors help keep existing listings accurate — but we can't guarantee every detail is current. Always confirm with the café directly if it matters to you.
Please don't submit false information, spam, or photos that aren't yours to share. We may edit, remove, or decline any submission or listing at our discretion.
We may update these terms from time to time — continuing to use MiMaquina after a change means you accept the current version.
